DEL at IDIMT 2025 – Presentations and International Collaboration

From September 3–5, 2025, members of the Prague Data Ethics Lab (DEL) attended the international conference IDIMT – Interdisciplinary Information Management Talks, held in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic. The 2025 edition, titled “ICT in Business: AI Everywhere? Glory and Disgrace of AI”, featured dozens of contributions spanning technology, management, and the societal impacts of artificial intelligence.

Our presentations:

  • Tomáš Sigmund: Applying Protection Motivation Theory to Enhance Adherence to Online Security Practices
→ This paper addressed how protection motivation theory can be used to encourage safer user behavior in digital environments.

  • Antonín Pavlíček: AI Innovations – The Double-Edged Sword: Exploring Positive and Negative Implications of Artificial Intelligence in Social Media
→ Focused on the dual nature of AI in social media—highlighting both the potential benefits and the risks of algorithmic manipulation. (Note: Presented independently, not under DEL)

  • Jiří Korčák, Richard Novák, David Pavlů: Misinformation and Influence Operations in Elections: Global Trends and the 2024 Romanian Case
→ An in-depth analysis of how AI is being used to spread disinformation during elections, including a case study of the 2024 Romanian presidential race.

During the event, we also initiated a promising collaboration with Dr. Hanan Maoz from Bar-Ilan University (Israel), a leading expert in the legal and ethical implications of artificial intelligence. Our discussions revealed strong thematic alignment—especially in the regulation of generative AI, risk frameworks, and societal impact of algorithmic technologies. We look forward to further cooperation and knowledge exchange.
