About the Lab:
Data Ethics Lab is a interdisciplinary laboratory founded at the Department of System Analysis of the Prague University of Economics and Business. Its focus is the research of the impacts of big data and AI on the current society.
The Laboratory seeks to increase the social awareness of the topic (among companies and individuals) and also to draw attention and popularize the topic among the academic, commercial and wider public.
The Lab’s research areas are Benefits and Risks of Data Related Technologies (Big Data/AI) and related Ethical topics.
The Lab has the ambition to bring together multiple perspectives from different disciplines such as Computer Science, Statistics, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy and Law.
We see the contribution of the Lab in researching, designing and formulating practical ethics for everyday dilemmas and for the deployment of data technologies in business-to-business (B2B), business-to-user (B2C) and government regulation (B2G). In doing so, we hope to contribute to the social reconciliation of new opportunities, challenges and risks with the social values.
